Following a Government announcement, the current timetable to increase the state pension age to 68 has been accelerated.
The planned rise of state pension age to 68 between 2044 & 2046 has now been moved to between 2037 and 2039.
You must have at least 10 qualifying years on your NI record to be eligible for State Pension.
Below shows the impact under the new proposed timetable:
Date of Birth | Impact |
Before 5th April 1970 | No change to your State Pension Age |
Between 6th April 1970 and 5th April 1978 | Currently 67 – This will increase to 67 + 1 month etc. depending on you date of birth. |
After 6th April 1978 | Remains at 68 |
